When growth stalls in B2B2C — and what to look at first

March 2026

Most B2B2C founders experience the same unsettling moment: the product works, users like it, but growth has flattened. Revenue isn't compounding the way the model predicted.

The instinct is to push harder on the same levers — more ads, more SDR outreach, another feature launch. But when growth stalls, the problem is almost never "not enough activity." It's misalignment.

Three places to look first

1. The handoff between product and revenue

In B2B2C, there's always a gap between user engagement and commercial traction. Users love the product, but the business buyer doesn't see the value — or worse, doesn't even know about the usage. The first thing I ask clients: "Can you show me, in one sentence, how user engagement translates into revenue?" If the answer takes more than ten seconds, that's the gap.

2. Channel-market mismatch

You might be running a solid ABM programme, but aimed at the wrong segment. Or your content speaks to end-users when the buying decision sits with procurement. B2B2C requires layered messaging: one narrative for users, another for buyers, and a bridge between them. Most companies only build one layer.

3. Activation vs. acquisition

When growth stalls, companies often double down on top-of-funnel. But the real issue is frequently activation — getting existing leads to take the next step. Look at your conversion rates stage by stage. Where does the drop happen? That's where your attention should go, not at the top.

The uncomfortable truth

Growth stalls are rarely about tactics. They're about clarity — clarity of positioning, clarity of who you're really selling to, and clarity of how your product creates commercial value beyond user delight.

Before you hire another marketer or launch another campaign, sit with these questions. The answers usually point to structural changes, not incremental ones. And those structural changes, while harder, are what actually unlock the next phase of growth.
